Kimo Kersse, an energetic professional keyboardist, hails from the east coast. Taking his musical endeavors seriously, Kimo has many accomplishments to his credit. In 1983-84 you could see Kimo on MTV in a video with the band MerMin. Thje song was titled "Where Are We Now". Kimo's first release was a self-titled album recorded in 1984. The band was called MerMin and was an original new wave rock band. MerMin recorded a follow up 4 song cassette and hit the road to support the new release. The next recording session took place at Omega Studios (Rockville, Md.) with the legendary drummer Leonard Haze (Y & T) playing drums and producing. Jumping on the "hair band" days of the 80's, Kimo along with singer Gene Quade started an all original band (Quade).
This band's instant popularity took them to new highs with a Grammy nomination in 1989 for their first release called "Rock in Motion" (8 song cassette). This cassette was also used as a movie soundtrack for a movie titled "Straight From the Heart" and has since been re-released (8/2007) by Australian record company Sun City Records. Please visit them to purchase "Rock In Motion" at www.suncityrecords.com Quade released a follow up CD titled "Heaven's Break" which is now considered an "ultra rare find".
This 11 song CD rocks from beginning to end. To read a review of this CD go to Glory Daze and see their opinion of this band. On the verge of a major deal, things did not work out for Quade and the rest is history. Kimo still, and always has been, a firm believer in his works from the 80's and his perseverance finally paid off with the 2007 Sun City records release. Since the days of "Quade", Kimo found himself playing clubs with friends and filling in when needed. Kimo also found himself hired out as a studio musician many times.
It was in January of 2007 when Kimo started to play with a local 80's hair metal band called Alive-n-Kickin. this last 10 months playing with Alive-n-Kickin has been a BLAST and I've loved every minute of it, however all good things must come to an end (if there is something just as good to replace it..lol) I am still playing with A-n-K, but have committed to starting my own project with some great players. More on that as it progresses. Well the new year is just around the corner and the "NEW" band is coming together spendidly! Stay tuned all you fans of 80's style music and new music, as the new band (yet unnamed) will probably rocking you all over Maryland starting around February 2008. |
